The IWA is probably Europe’s most important annual weapons show. No hobbyists are allowed, except with a personal invitation by one of the exhibitors.

Cold Steel was kind enough to invite The Slingshot Channel to the show! Meet Lynn Thompson, founder and president of Cold Steel, see him receiving his Jörg Sprave Hammerhead slingshot in cast aluminum. Lynn then gives a personal demonstration of his fighting skills with two huge Bowie knifes.

All of the Zombie killing Cold Steel products are checked out at the booth.

Then, Jörg Sprave walks the showfloor, looking for other cool stuff. Large knifes, awesome crossbows and even a brand new arrow shooting air rifle from Sweden are presented in this slightly off topic video.

As the first one of a series of videos taken at the East Coast Slingshot Tournament in Alverton/PA (April/May 2010), in this presentation Jörg Sprave interviews the world reknown expert Jack Koehler. Jack wrote a fantastic book about slingshots (presented in the video), and also he designed a target slingshot that is very unique. Made out of polished exotic wood and stainless steel, this braced slingshot is outfitted with fiber optic sights!

The slingshot is called “King Cat” and can be bought (where legal) for 88 US-$.

You can order the book at amazon (14.95 US-$), here:

Slingshot vs Helmet

Very strong bald German guy shoots with a deadly slingshot (heavy rubber tubes) at a motorcycle helmet. Incredibly big steel bullets are used. The video includes a slow motion of the dramatic effect. A ricochetting bullet still has enough power to smash a window, making the production involuntarily expensive…

The Slingshot Channel brings to you a genuine world record! The task: How strong can a one man operated, portable slingshot be? For maximum energy, this specifically designed slingshot is foot operated. The impressibe result: More than 131 Joules of energy! A 82 Gramms .91 inch lead ball (1312 grains) was shot at 185,5 feet per second, more than 56 meters per sec.
Inclusing slo mo material from the shot.

Gatling guns have been the first firearms with a firing rate close to modern machine guns. Their principle is easy: A set of rotating barrels is turned by cranking a wheel, with one barrel after the other firing a round when it is in shooting position. This makes them technically and legally a repeating gun, not a full auto one – but it is close enough.

The Slingshot Channel took the challenge to design a rubber powered version of Mr. Gatling’s great invention. And here it is: Eight 20 mm balls, on their way to the target in less than half a second. The theoretical firing rate is 960 rounds per minute, slightly faster than the popular M16 assault rifle.

The video also shows how you can fire single shots with the weapon.

Circular sawblades are about as dangerous to be shot from a slingshot as it gets. Heavy. Sharp. Unpredictable in flight.

Seems like the perfect challenge for us here at The Slingshot Channel!

It turned out quickly that rotational speed is needed in order to stabilize the flight of the blade. Otherwise it will tumble and loose speed quickly, as shown in two slow motion scenes. So a special weapon was devised that adds this rotation to the saw blade, and the effect is quite impressive.

A shot of the blade into a watermelon demonstrates the destructional potential of this slingshot invention.

Slingshot vs. Venus Williams

How fast can a slingshot propell a tennis ball?

Using the “Hand Howitzer” and butterfly style triple bands, Jörg Sprave clocks 207 km/h (129 mph). That is just 1 mph slower than Venus Williams, currently number three in the “womens fastest serve” record list!

It is interesting how the low forked Howitzer shoots the unusually big ammo without any problems.
